Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us at if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Anyone who lives or works in Morgan County may apply to participate in the Morgan County Leadership Academy. Important factors when selecting students are the individual's commitment and interest in serving the community.

Applications for the MCLA Class of 2025 are now available and must be submitted electronically no later than 5 PM November 15th.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance by November 20th. If accepted, a non-refundable deposit of $200 is due by December 1st. If MCLA has not received your deposit by December 1st, your spot in the class will be offered to another applicant at that time.

Any remaining tuition balance as of December 2nd is due in full by Opening Retreat on January 9, 2025.

Sessions are held on the 2nd Thursday of each month January through September. Sessions begin sharply at 8am and end at 5pm.

Every session is held in a different part of Morgan County. Pertinent information will be emailed to class members one week before each session.

Each year, the MCLA class completes at least 1 group project. These projects have differed greatly from one another over time. Some classes have been able to select their project and some projects have been pre-selected by the previous class or board of directors. Some projects have been completed outside of regularly scheduled sessions and some have been completed during a session. No matter the source or structure, the project must create a positive outcome for the county and preferably positively impact the county for years to come.

Project examples: fundraising to purchase 10'x10' county maps for all schools districts, manual labor installing walkways and fencing at county parks, creating a virtual tour of important county landmarks, facilitating a 5k walk/run to benefit a local organization.

  • Class members must attend Opening Retreat in January.
  • Class members must participate in the class group project and help prepare the class presentation to be given during graduation.
  • Class members may not miss more than 2 sessions of the remaining 8 sessions Feb-Sept.

  • Finish your year strong! Continue to attend the remaining sessions with your class.
  • You may return the following year to make up the session or group project participation you need to graduate at no extra charge.
